I have some problems with the APU4C4.
I have flashed the newest bios 18.104.22.168 set up some settings in the bios, and it was working fine until I wanted to reinstall ipfire, and I must have done something wrong in the settings, because I can not get into the bios options anymore. The serial displays nothing until you get into grub from the previous installation. When I put the spi flash adapter on, I can enter the bios, but I have limited boot options but I can boot into the sd card with tinycore trying to reflash the firmware. But it says it is the same so it will not flash or reset it. So how to I remove the settings from the newer bios such that serial works and I can choose again which media to boot from? Since I am at a lost here.
Also note I got into the lastest bios just before I tried reinstalling ipfire. And it also had reset everything to default again (things I enabled where disabled) that why I changed things. This was already before I tried the adapter. How can bios settings reset them selfs but now that I want to myself, I can not?
Will it help if I remove the battery???
Secondly, booting from to the ipxe console. DNS is not working. I have a ip, gateway and dns assigned to me. I can ping ip numbers. All other devices have network. Tried 3 different dhcp server. Tried to use static instead of dhcp. Tried it originally with the bios pre-installed at delevery, tried it with a new bios. Got even so far as removing the whole network from my internet modem, reset the damn thing and plugging it directly into the modem. But whatever I do I can ping 22.214.171.124 (google dns) but it refuses to lookup any names period. Making it impossable to install over internet ipfire. Why does the dns not work? In the end I installed it through a usb stick. But it was kind of a bummer and cost me a couple of hours tinkering before I gave up.
Anyway the first problem is more important since now I am unable to reinstall anything except using the spi flash adapter. Which means opening up the case :-(
Edit: Removing the battery did the trick solving the first problem... should have tried that earlier :-)
Edit2: Resetting the cmos also did the trick with ipxe... it magically works now...
