I am trying to setup my apu2c4 with proxmox. I installed everything along the lines of the following instructions:
So far, so good.
I am struggling with networking, though.
The first NIC, eth0 has a static IP and is the connection to my ISP's router, eth1 has also a static IP and is connected to a laptop. In order to access the web interface of proxmox on apu, I
iface eth0 inet static
iface eth1 inet static
pre-up iptables-restore < /etc/iptables.rules
My iptables rules:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
sudo iptables -A FORWARD -i eth1 -o eth0 -j ACCEPT
sudo iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE
iptables-save > /etc/iptables.rules
I am getting access to my proxmox server only with this setup.
So now I am wondering on how to get guests to work on proxmox.
I read that on a “normal” proxmox install by default a bridge (vmbr0) is being created. I tried to setup a bridge in my /etc/network/interfaces like described in the proxmox wiki:
I tried all approaches (bridged, routed, NAT) but couldn't get a connection to my proxmox webgui, e.g. eth0 inet manual and vmbr0 static.
Obviously I am not experienced with networking but I am trying to learn things. The bridge vmbr0 does replace my eth1, doesn't it?
I don't know what's what anymore so I am looking for a little help. Can I add a bridge to my currently working setup (eth0 → eth1)?
Thanks a lot for taking the time to read. I am hoping for a little advice.
